1. Information We Collect

BrightControl is a screen brightness management app. It is designed to operate entirely on your device and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location.

What the app accesses:

• Screen brightness setting — the app reads and modifies the device's current screen brightness in order to apply the brightness offset you choose.
• Data you create in the app — brightness profiles (name, emoji icon, color tag, and offset value) and schedules (times and days of week). This data is stored only on your device.
• App preferences — your settings such as active profile, theme, notification style, and whether the service starts on boot. These are stored locally on your device.
• Device information — the app may read basic device information needed to function (such as the Android version), but this information is never collected, transmitted, or stored by us.

2. Permissions

BrightControl uses the following device permissions to provide its features:

• Modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS) — required to change the screen brightness.
• Foreground service — required to keep the brightness adjustment running and synchronized with the system's automatic brightness in real time.
• Start on boot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — required to restore your brightness settings automatically after the device restarts.
• Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) — required to switch brightness profiles at the exact times you set in your schedules.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used to show the foreground service notification so you can control the brightness service.

These permissions are used solely for the features described above. We do not use them to access any other data on your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information above is used exclusively to provide the app's features:

• To apply, monitor, and adjust screen brightness based on your selected offset.
• To save and restore your brightness profiles and schedules.
• To switch profiles automatically according to the schedules you configure.
• To respond to your support or privacy inquiries.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than those described in this policy.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party. BrightControl contains no advertising, no analytics services, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking software. The app does not request internet access, and no data leaves your device.

5. Data Security

We take the following measures to protect your data:

• All app data (profiles, schedules, and preferences) is stored locally on your device within the Android application sandbox and is never transmitted over the internet.
• The app requests no internet permission, so it cannot send data to any server.
• Any correspondence with us (for example, by email) is protected in transit using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

• Retention: Your data (profiles, schedules, and preferences) is stored on your device and is retained only for as long as you keep the app installed. We do not store your data on any server. Please note that if you enable Android's system backup (Auto Backup via Google Drive), app data may be included in that backup, and you can manage or disable this at any time in your device settings.
• Deletion in-app: You can delete individual brightness profiles and schedules at any time from within the app using the delete button on each item.
• Deletion via device settings: You can delete all app data at any time via your device settings (Settings > Apps > BrightControl > Storage > Clear data), or uninstall the app entirely. Uninstalling permanently removes all locally stored data.
• Deletion on request: You may also request deletion of any data associated with you by contacting us at the email address below. We will process valid deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

BrightControl is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
